Book festivals and genre conventions have a lot in common: devoted fans, long signing lines and a love of stories. The strongest author bookings bring something extra to the table, like a career in film, a famous family story or a book that ties into a franchise fans already follow.
Authors with a crossover audience
Many of the writers we represent also work in front of or behind the camera, which brings two fan bases to one table:
- Jamie Nash is a screenwriter and filmmaker (V/H/S/2, Exists) and the author of the YA horror novel Haunted Girl, the middle-grade adventure Monster Stompers and Save the Cat! Writes Horror.
- Barry Duffield, known from Spartacus and Power Rangers, writes horror and thrillers including Deadman's Land and Hellion Rising.
- Dan De Luca wrote the horror novel HAG: The Legend of Bloody Mary.
- Rain Pryor wrote the memoir Jokes My Father Never Taught Me about life with her father, Richard Pryor.
- Jim Piddock tells stories from four decades in Hollywood in Caught With My Pants Down.
What makes an author appearance work
- Books on the table. Confirm who supplies copies to sell, the author, a local bookseller or the festival, well before the show.
- A reading or panel. A short reading or a craft talk, such as how to write horror, gives fans a reason to stop by.
- Time to talk. Readers love a personal inscription and a minute of conversation, so plan the signing schedule with that in mind.
See our authors in person
Our clients appear at book festivals as well as conventions. Jamie Nash and Dan Franko are booked for FrightReads Book Fest at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland, on October 24 and 25, 2026. Jamie Nash appears Saturday only. See upcoming events for details.
